I would also like to add that I intend to continue this discussion for all of those who were involved in this calm, and intellectual thread about defining handwoven structures and techniques.

Seriously, is the callout that you could search on knitting and crochet items and see that various people have mistagged with handwoven? That seems...pretty broad.
January 9, 2009 at 3:06:00 PM ESTOkay, I did a search on knit AND handwoven, got 14 pages. Did crochet AND handwoven search and got 8 pages. Both of those have a subset of people that could be considered mistagging, but its more than a couple people. I know there's the slippery slope of "but how many people count before is a call out."
Hm, now I kinda want to see how broad of a call out that I could do...
The same thing happened the other day with a copyright infringement thread, they closed it because you were able to search for Disney, Hello Kitty, Twilight, etc. and find the over 800 listings of items, and subsequently the shops which were infringing on copyrights. I posted about it on my blog It was just ridiculous to close it it was a very calm respectful discussion about a serious issue.

What really ticks me off, is that they have threads that go on and on that are a real blatant call out. Like a couple of the closed threads posted here. Look how long some of those went before anything was actually done. Look now and you will see a shit load of threads that are still open. The Etsy "rules" that are cited by admin for justifying the closure of a thread are a joke, etsy admin are so damn ignorant when it comes to closing a thread.

This thread closure is just idiotic, as was the closure of the copyright discussion. I posted a follow-up, directed at Admin, asking why they closed the copyright thread, as there was no call out. I guess you could search and get about 1,000 results, but c'mon, is that really a call out? Of course, I never got a response from Admin.
January 11, 2009 at 2:28:00 PM ESTIt is really getting stupid over there in the forums. Good discussion is no longer aloud as anything can be a call out. Geesh!
