I have a hard time blaming the seller for sticky-fingered post offices opening the package, removing the item, and putting the box back in. That's NOT the sellers fault. Even if it is packaged well, they can still cut into the package to get the box out.

When I was in college, this kind of shit happened ALL THE TIME with packages to students. Parents mailing cookie tins and things - the package would arrive "damaged" and the tin would be in the box, but no cookies, etc.

Yeah it sucks - you're out the money - but the seller would also be out the money AND the product. Both of you are screwed!

Ok, it's not the buyer's fault. If the seller couldn't afford to refund, they should of bought insurance.

I am a buyer AND a seller and even though I wouldn't be happy about it, I would refund. It's the right thing to do.

If you ordered something from a mail order company and your package arrived empty, would you just take a loss? Of course not, so why do some sellers think buyers should on Etsy?

The more I read of these threads, I realize some sellers really have no business selling online. If I read a seller's policies and it states they aren't responsible for items lost/damaged in the mail I say to myself, "Like hell you say!"

Sellers can write it off on their taxes, but a buyer is just shit out of luck?? Yeah, that seems fair.
