I had it last year. . . What I really 'survived' was the medical system and the bills. Those pink ribbons ought to be dollar bill green.

Wow. I'm Canadian and never thought about it that way.

Wow.

I admit, there have been times I've been annoyed at seeing all the "pink ribbon" and BC awareness stuff because heart disease and disease/complications from obesity kill more Americans (and, selfishly, both run in MY family). I would like heart disease and obesity to be taken more seriously - would love to see a "3 day fun run for obesity!" in 10 cities like they do for Breast Cancer.

But anyway...I would never come to a forum and say "I don't care about breast cancer". That's just wrong.

No wonder he doesn't care about BC, his chances of getting it are very very slim.

I'm so glad I don't have any men (and I use that word loosely when referring to this PoS) like him in my life.

Karma's a bitch and she, yes she, always wins.

What a fucking hypocritical dickhead.

Hell, I would like to see more fund-raising and activism for my type of cancer - it doesn't kill in the early stages, but you are sick for the rest of your life AND that shit can come back even after surgery and radiation like it did in me - but even I don't have any hate for other types of cancer awareness.

Rock on, pink ribbons for bewbies!

I think it's a bit unfair to assume this person's aptitude towards breast cancer is from being a man, it's true he's unlikely to get it, but many families are affected by breast cancer and other forms of cancer that are gender specific, breast and cervical cancer runs in my family, and it's unlike I'll get one and impossible for me to get the other, that does not mean I don't care about them and see them effect several members of my family.
This guy is just a dick head, and part of the reason that breast cancer gets so much attention is it's one of the more common forms of cancer, it may not be the most deadly, but it's a more common type.

I attended a memorial service yesterday for a friend who died last week of breast cancer.

My cousin had breast cancer (she is ok). I lost my sister and another cousin to multiple myeloma, a grandmother to stomach cancer and my father to prostate cancer. One of my uncles now has prostate cancer.

I myself had a breast cancer scare, right at the same time my sister was dying from her cancer.

I've been in the "cancer system" and seen family members go through it themselves. IMO, the pink ribbons are overdone, just like the red ribbons for AIDS/HIV eventually became.

I get angry that cancer is a huge money-maker for the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries. But what angers me the most is that all these cancers are pitted against each other and forced to fight with one another not only for the same tiny crumbs of the research/treatment funding pie, but also for public awareness, sympathy and support.

It saddens me that some cancers are resented because of the funding/awareness issue. All cancers are horrible.
