They want Christmas cards, not money or gifts. It's linked to an official news site, so it's not made up. The cards are going directly to the boy, not any Etsians. Seems really dumb to close the thread.
November 6, 2009 at 1:44:00 AM ESTThe rule is "no solicitations on the forums". Solicitations don't just have to be for money.
November 6, 2009 at 1:27:00 PM ESTThey haven't always closed down all solicitation threads, and that caused lots of confusion and problems. It's better that they enforce the rule in a black and white way - which means closing down any thread asking for any kind of donation or solicitation.
