So - people don't want to tell this woman how to raise her kids - but they want to tell her how awful it is that she would get her kid an ipod.

I like the no judgement judgementalism of it all. Typical, especially from the pack of hyenas that come in to pounce on prey so frequently.

I'm just sad that I've really only heard from one or maybe two people in this thread that actually have iPhone/iTouch and kids.

There's a reason for that,
because buying an Ipod for a one year old is INSANE!

Besides, if I really wanted to insult posters here by calling them old, and not hear what you all had to say wouldn't I just say something like:

"Don't you witches need to go change your colostomy bags or shave your upper lips?"

Yeah, because only the elderly have colostomy bags, Einstein.

Children can get a colostomy. People get them for all sorts of reasons, such as Crohn's Disease, ulcerative colitis and cancer, which hit all ages.

Well, now we know what we should all be selling, since the CPSIA made handmade toys nearly illegal.

Nice judgemental judgementalism there, Jeanette. You're clearly better than all the rest of us.

*winky smile* for those who can't read sarcasm without a visual.

On the contrary, Jeanette, I know that despite the myriad contradictory opinions on childrearing, most kids get through just fine despite how they're raised. And despite the OP's defensiveness, or the opinions of those of us who disagreed with the one choice of toddler toys, I have no reason to believe she is any other than a very devoted, very conscientious, very good parent.

That being said, spending so much energy insulting and dismissing intelligent, experienced, and tech-savvy adults (including other parents) as square, narrow-minded Luddites, and twisting one's panties over folks who are disagreeing on the grounds of common sense, is bound to result in a fair number of negative responses.

But judge away and keep up the name calling!
