Yikes, I totally spelled copying wrong.
August 29, 2008 at 3:27:00 PM EDTI am shocked that some in the so called Etsy community were so quick to pass judgement on me the person whose design is being stolen, it's appalling.
Was it wrong to post this, yes, was it calling out yes, do I feel bad, no not at all. This seller is profiting from my hard work. I wanted to get the administration to hear me. Calling out on some silly forum does not compare to the wrong that this seller is perpetrating. I am deeply disappointed in this "community".
For the record, I think it's partly because there is nothing they can do about the other seller breaking the rules, but they can try and stop you from breaking the rules. (Even if you are kind of justified, and it was your way of trying to get control)) Some people like to be policemen and there is very little at Etsy that they can control, so they try it in the forums..

stacy, i'm sorry this happened to you. i'm on the fence about "calling out" sometimes it isn't clear. in your case,it is. i commend you for calling them out on their blatant assholiness. copying sucks and if they don't care that they suck hell, let us all in on it!

You need to speak to a copyright attorney asap and send a cease and desist immediately.
Your designs can also be registered with the copyright office to add further protection. You can register the collection as a group which will save on copyright cost.
i am so tired of blatant copying, idea stealing and theft of brand on etsy. these people need to be flogged. forever. this will be the straw that breaks the back of many professionals on etsy.

Emily Martin provided a pattern for her dollies, for goodness sake, and they are "for personal use only." You can't make a profit on someone else's design, no matter how many times you see it on tv. DUH.
Thank you all for your supportive comments. I have emailed Etsy a number of times since Friday regarding this seller & have yet to receive a response. At this point my disgust & anger is directed towards Etsy for not responding directly to me outlining what action or inaction they plan to take. If they decide to do nothing it empowers this seller & others to continue to copy from all of us in the "community". The icing on the cupcake is that Etsy will profit every time this seller lists & sells one of these shirts. They are both guilty of literally taking money out of my pocket. It sickens me.
