ah here it is, I didn't even know this thread exsisted.....it went for 9 pages before it got closed. I am really surprised it went that long.

soon the octomom threads will start popping up again since these people are soo taboo to talk about.

I wonder if the octo has any "relatives" on etsy too who will be totally offended by threads posted about her and her brood.

one can't even post about wanting to deleted expired listings without those threads being closed too.

Really, there is no free of speech on etsy forums but you sure can sell tons of non hanmade items, get flagged a million times and still have a shop or have a ton of negative feedback for not paying and still have an open account.

Censorship = Bullshit.

Again, if you don't want people to talk about your trashy family, tell them to NOT make it public on friggin' TV!

Commonsense has left the building!

RobWhite says:
I don't like to ask anyone to steer clear of discussion topics entirely, but I would ask that you do this for the time being as we discuss Forum policy matters relating discussions of Etsy members and their relatives.
_______________

Thought just occurred to me...does this mean that members would have to stop making threads discussing their OWN family members as well? Y'know those threads bitching about mothers, sister-in-laws, etc.? Because then that would mean that other members of the community are discussing them perhaps not in the most positive light...

Not being snarky here, but I'm thinking they are going to have to make this rule wide-spread...they can't have it focus just around one person/one family, whether "celebrity" or not.

This whole thing is stupid, I mean how can they even know who REALLY is a relative of anyone on etsy?

I could go around saying (for example) sister of Hilary Clinton, what proof would they have that really am not? I doubt etsy will try to contact the secretary of state just to find out if she really has a sister who sells on etsy so they can keep tabs on threads that may hurt her feeling talking about Hilary.

Etsy Forums = no freedom of speech

It's one thing to totally break the rules and be nasty to other people but to just talk about stuff that is already all over the tv, newpapers, magazines, internet, radio, etc. and be censored for it because is hurts some so called relative of that person is just nuts.
